3 Back-to-School Tips For the Whole Family

Dogs and their human companions have something very important in common: we are both creatures of habit; and with the change of seasons, sometimes we need a jump-start to change up or refresh some of those habits. Milkbone provided me with a box of dog-gone fun, in order to share 3 back-to-school tips for you and your dog(s); so take a look and see what you think!
Some back-to-school tips can benefit the whole furmaly; thanks to #Milkbone!

My Morning Routine

Every morning I wake up and walk down the hall; stopping to pat Teddy on the belly as he stretches himself awake, and urging Conner to wake up. The boys join me in the kitchen as I make coffee and get the cats’ breakfast bowls ready.

They knows it’s time for their morning treats; what they don’t know is that its a vitamin! So I get my coffee, and Teddy and Conner get their Milk-bone vitamins! I’ve talked about my dogs’ love of Milkbone products before; and it’s gotten to the point that they both get excited when the UPS man stops by–chances are really good that he’s got something for them!

3 Back-to-School Tips for My Furmaly

Even though I don’t have children myself (at least human children), I work at a school. So Fall is the signal for a change in our routine. And Milkbone has given me some tips, which I’ve adapted to my own family, so that everyone can get back into the back-to school rhythm.

Check out these 3 back-to-school tips from #Milkbone; they're fur the whole family! @MilkBone #ad Click To Tweet

1. Get active with your four-legged trainer

40% of doggy mommies and daddies do healthy things with their pups at the same time that they do healthy things for their families. By adding doggy exercise to the rest of your family’s routine, your dog can actually begin to encourage the rest of your family to stay active!

Personally, I try to make it a point to take the boys for a walk every day. We also get a good workout on the weekends when we try to get over to the (empty) schoolyard or to the dog park for a good run.

Conner loves to run and play; and good nutrition keeps him healthy!2. Involve the whole family in caring for Fido (and for themselves)

Dogs, just like kids, need role models. 57% of dog parents who also have human children involve their kids in caring for their pet—instilling responsibility and good daily habits like brushing their teeth and taking their vitamins.

My room mate (and sometimes my friends) helps with some of our routines. The boys get regular car rides through the neighborhood; they love riding in the car through the shopping center too! Sometimes we take a drive over to a friend’s house and walk through the park nearby.

3. Make sure your dog consistently receives the nutrients necessary to live a long and happy life

1 in 3 pet parents are confused about what’s needed for proper pet nutrition, meaning many pup parents are unaware that their dogs’ diets may be lacking in essential nutrients. Milk-Bone Good Morning Daily Vitamin Treats were created specifically to promote your dog’s well-being and longevity. So when you’re giving your kids their daily vitamins, remember that your pup needs his nutrient-packed treats too.

Time for our Milkbone Good Morning Vitamin TreatsJust like kids (or even me), I try to limit the amount of junk food and treats we hand out. Milkbone has come up with these great Good Morning Daily Vitamins–which the boys love; so replacing a cookie with a vitamin is a healthy way to spoil them!

My dogs add so much to my family—so I want to take care of them for the long-term!
