Mindful Her in Laguna Beach

Mindful Her-New Year New YouI had the great pleasure of attending the latest Mindful Her event, “New Year, New You – The Beauty Within” a few weeks ago at Seven Degrees in Laguna Beach.

Even though the day was a little cold and rainy, the location was beautiful; an intimate restaurant set in Laguna Canyon, filled with women who were eager to take a more mindful approach in setting their New Year’s resolutions for 2016.

The day’s speakers offered great information and demonstrations on the best practices for a healthy mind, body and spirit.

Teachers and topics included:

  • Speakers at Mindful Her in Laguna BeachMegan McCarver on “Daily Meditation & Yoga Breathing Exercises to Cultivate Harmony and Expand Creative Energy”
  • Tawny Avonne on “Quieting The Inner Critic”
  • Lissa Coffey on “Manage Weight Mindfully with the Ancient Wisdom of Ayurveda
  • Cheri Swanson on “Nutrition for a Clean Body & Altering Genetics Through Food”
  • Sarah James on “Mindful Practices for Natural, Toxin-Free Skincare”

Starting the New Year off with Mindful Her

Because of other commitments, I didn’t arrive until mid-morning; so I missed Kelly Lam and Joanne Forster’s opening remarks; Mallika Chopra talking about her new book, Living with Intent; meditation & breathing exercises with Megan McCarver; and part of a very intriguing (at least to me) talk from Lissa Coffey about weight and ayurveda.

After lunch, I was busy taking notes while listening to Cheri Swanson. In fact, I’ve book-marked her site; you should check it out for all the great, healthy recipes she has listed. I can’t wait to try some of them myself. Next up Sarah James, who blogs at Whoorl,  talked about skin-care and make up, and how it can affect our health.

Mindful Her had delicious (& healthy) food & drinksMindful Food & Drinks

Although I missed the breakfast of Acai Bowls by Sambazon, my lunch by Active Culture was delicious (and healthy).

At Happy Hour, 35 Maple Street Spirits made an eye-opening Gin Cocktail (eye-opening because I’m not a Gin fan, but I would definitely order this again!). When I asked the bartenders what it was, they said it would compare to a Gin Mojito–YUMMY!

Our sushi dinner was great as well–fresh, beautifully arranged and tasty; and provided by Akioni’s Catering.

In February, they are holding a couple’s event on Valentine’s Day at Rancho Las Lomas in Trabuco Canyon.
