What a whirlwind weekend I had at the end of September! First, on Saturday I attended the Mom Entrepreneur Success Conference in Irvine; then on Sunday I drove to Santa Monica and the beautiful Casa del Mar to attend the BLP ConnectHer conference. Although both conferences seemed to be directed to moms (which I’m not), when I talked to the promoters they emphasized that these would be beneficial for all women–and they were so right.
Building Your Business & Achieving Balance
The Mom Entrepreneur Center has a saying on their site that caught my eye, and seems to sum up the whole conference they put on Saturday–”It’s not about doing it all, it’s about being your all.”
There were great speakers with a lot of information, plus some fun shopping opportunities and break-out sessions. I was also so happy to find a friend I hadn’t seen in a while! All of the speakers I heard were amazing, inspiring and fun to listen to; but I did want to mention a couple of my favorites.
Michelle Ghilotti spoke about Creating Your Haute & Authentic Brand. I’ve been reading her newsletters and blog and have to say that this short session was such a tease–Michelle is very inspiring and knowledgeable on the ins and outs, the hows and the whys of branding. She offers a step-by-step approach to crafting the total package and I plan to keep up with everything she has to say.
Queenie Johnson was another great speaker who I could have listened to all day. She is an inspiring coach with lots of great ideas on how to get past the fear and self-criticism that holds many women back.
Connecting Business & Social Media
I don’t know how I’ve missed the BLP ConnectHer conference in the past; this was their 3rd annual event and I can’t wait to sign up again next year! The idea behind ConnectHER is to bring women entrepreneurs, brands, PR and marketing firms and influencers together. Let me say that the results were amazing.
Not only were we ensconced in a gorgeous hotel banquet room overlooking the beach, but we were educated and entertained by some brilliant women and men. Stand-outs among those were Lisa Steadman and Nicole McDowell, along with BLP CEO Laura Medina-Filipowicz, celebrity Spokesmoms founder Ali Landry. and some of my favorite bloggers.
I also wanted to add that the networking going on at ConnectHER was really inspiring; I met so many great people who I plan to keep in contact with; bloggers, writers, entrepreneurs and new friends. You can count on seeing me there again next year!

Sounds great! I’d love to go to a conference like that sometime. Sounds like it would be very interesting!

Thanks for the info. I will be looking in to some of the speakers you mentioned. I really am trying to grow my brand and I could use all the help I can get.

This is great info–My blog isn’t about being a mom, so I tend to shy away from events with a focus on parenting, but now I’ll take a closer look and learn more about the speakers you link to here. Thanks for sharing.

I’m not one either; in both cases, I spoke to the organizer to see what they thought & I’m so glad I did. I would have passed on either one of these and missed some great opportunities to meet, network and learn!
